Let’s start the season with fun and camaraderie!
We’ll meet, eat and learn the fascinating journey of local Judaic artist Lori Charnow, one of our long-time members. Lori will share her family’s Sephardic history and the personal discovery of her artistic passion – and how the two intertwine! The afternoon will include the opportunity to decorate your own piece of Judaic art, if you choose — or just watch and keep schmoozing endjuntos! This will surely be a wonderful afternoon to be together meeting up with old and new friends.
Lori Charnow specializes in reverse painting on clear glass, with Hebrew and English calligraphy. She developed her signature process of writing backwards on the reverse side of interesting glass pieces to make all her pieces food safe —and to protect the artwork beneath the glass! For our Vijita, she has specially prepared a variety of custom bowls (each approx. 5”) which feature the Turkish welcoming phrase of Buyrun! If you choose to participate, Lori will lead you through her process of painting color and designs to create your own Judaic art piece to cherish or gift.
