“Judaic Studies Blossoms at FAU”—Hosted by Lori and Jeff Charnow
Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton has had a Judaic Studies program and Judaic library collection for decades, albeit small and underutilized. Our Federation had several years of successful partnership with both sections, bringing lectures, events and Ladino concerts to the campus. Now, FAU has a new director, Dr. Rachel Harris who will share all the new and exciting developments she is spearheading. Let’s welcome her warmly and see how we may rebuild our old partnership to new advantages for all!

She has been studying the healing traditions of Sephardim and has compiled a wonderful book on the topic. From inquisition records, songs, poetry, folk tales, interviews and medical texts, she reveals a world of earth-based knowledge that colored our ancestors’ Sephardic life and followed them throughout the diaspora.
